Happy Birthday little girl.

Last Sunday marked one year since I fell and tore up my knee. Read all about it here. This Sunday, today actually, is Emma's first birthday. Pretty unbelievable and exciting. Life has changed so much over the past year. All for the better but it wasn't always easy. I guess the good stuff never is. Emma and Shanna have been sick for a couple days now so it looks like her party is going to be moved to next week.

Work has sucked my will to write.

MIA

Honestly I just haven't felt like blogging anything lately. I launched a new blog, posted the first half of a story and then lost the impulse to write. If you haven't noticed I forced myself to write the second half of the battery story. It is amazing how easy it comes once you sit down and start.

I played a lot of Evil Genius this last week. I also resurrected Moonleaf my level 60 Hunter from World of Warcraft and hada good run with a friend. Then I managed to get some high end gear for him as well. I also go invited to the Auto Assault Beta so it may be a while til you hear from me. Back in the day I used to apply for every beta possible and never got it. I haven't applied for one in 2 years and this invite came out of the blue. Wierd.

I read a book on CSS and am working on a website for a school in Africa. I am halfway through The Life of Pi. It is good so far and you should all check it out. I am still part of the way through A Feast for Crows but I put it down to read Pi since I am borrowing that one. Once I finish the website and put down the games I will blog a bit more regular like. Or at least post some more pics. Or maybe finish the banners for the Lear to Draw site. Who knows? I don't think I will ever be finished. I am not spell checking or proof reading this. Too bad.

The rest of the battery story.

So I leave my car overnight at a gas station. The next morning I call my dad up and lucky for me he is able to shift a meeting and help out a son in need. We have my car towed to my parents' house. My dad loans me his car to use for a day or two while I have my alternator fixed. At this point everything seems fine. Things fall into place regarding the alternator and by the time I am off of work it is replaced.

The next day I put Emma in the car. My dad's car. It is making a really strange hum. I put my stuff in, sit down, turn the key, and.....NOTHING. Not a single click, hum, or buzz, and definitely not the roar of an engine. His car is D-E-A-D dead. At this point I am talking to myself. "You gotta be kidding me? What is going on here? This can't be happening." SMACK!!! That was me slapping myself to make sure I am awake. I check to make sure that I turned the lights off after returning home last night. They were turned off. I grab Emma and go back inside. I going over the people I need to call to notify that I am going to be late. I need to call my dad and tell him that I some how managed to drain his battery and offer to buy him a new one. I need to call my work and tell them that I won't be able to make it in until Shanna gets home. I need to call Shanna and tell her to come straight home because I can't meet her at work.

Turns out I need to remember to put the phone on the charger. I picked up the phone and dialed and the stupid thing just laughed at me. In actuality it beeped at me but at this point I couldn't tell the difference. I pretty much lost it. I made some sort of weird huffing elephant sounding noise and shoved the phone back on the charger. I ran upstairs and headed to the corner of the room in which if I stand on one foot just right with my one hand on my head and my butt hanging out a window I can get a single elusive bar of reception with my cell phone.

First I call my dad and let him know that I have killed his car. He laughs and reminds me that he and Harv had been working on the car window and had drained the battery operating it. When he went to charge the battery he couldn't because he couldn't find the charger. Of course he couldn't because I had it >:~(

In the end everything worked out ok but it was a long day. My parents even brought my car back in an attempt to trade cars but I had their key with me at work so they had to go back home in my car. I guess I learned that you should keep your phone charged and that the battery light doesn't actually mean battery. It means electrical system and when it comes on you really should look into it. Maybe someday I will be a car guy. Til then I will just have stories that aren't fun to live through but are good for a laugh when you post on the internet.
